Welcome to "Dads At Lunch" an innovative volunteer program just for Dads at Pony Express Elementary. To get started, visit the office at the school and fill out a background check. The District charges $15 for this service, and the background check is good for 5 years.
After your background check comes back, you can begin to volunteer! Check back here periodically for a schedule of activities. We'll select an activity for each week. Feel free to come in any day of the week during lunch recess. Here's the procedure when you come to the school:
1. Check in at the office by printing off your yellow badge on the check-in computer.
2. Get your "Dads At Lunch" identifier item and put it on.
3. Head out to the playground at the North end of the school and start interacting.
4. After the last group finishes recess, return to the office to return your identifier item and check out on the computer.
FYI: Recess rotates every 15-20 minutes. That means that each grade is on the playground for about 15-20 minutes, and then the next grade comes out. There will be a constant stream of kids coming out to play, and then the playground aides will line them up to go back to class. Have fun and invite everyone to play.
